Welcome to the official website of the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA), IPB University!
FEMA is the first and only faculty in Indonesia dedicated specifically to advancing the scientific discipline of human ecology. Since its establishment on 2 August 2005, FEMA has pioneered the development of knowledge, education, research, and community engagement rooted in the principles of human ecology. Driven by a spirit of techno-socio entrepreneurship, FEMA is committed to responding to contemporary challenges by shaping resilient, innovative, and globally competitive graduates.
Throughout its journey, FEMA has achieved numerous milestones through its three leading departments: Community Nutrition (GM), Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK), and Communication and Community Development Sciences (SKPM). All study programmes at FEMA – undergraduate, professional, master’s, and doctoral – have received “A” and “Excellent” accreditation, reflecting FEMA’s dedication to academic excellence.
Today’s world is experiencing major disruptions, including climate change, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, global pandemics, and geopolitical conflicts. These challenges affect food systems, health, the economy, and the environment at the family, community, and societal levels. FEMA serves as a strategic partner in facing these challenges through resilient, transformative, and sustainable approaches. We believe that collaboration with various stakeholders – government, private sector, civil society, and media – is key to turning disruption into opportunity.
Through education, research, and community service, FEMA continues to enhance its contributions in areas such as food and nutrition security, family and consumer well-being, conflict resolution in natural resource management, and community empowerment through participatory communication. These efforts are in line with IPB University’s transformation towards becoming a techno-socio entrepreneurial university.
