LEARNING FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY: AN INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE
The course discusses the potentials of human, as an individual, family, group, organization and community to grow, to develop knowledge and innovation in managing natural resources and environment towards sustainability. As the population increased exponentially, the needs for food, land, water and other resources also increase. There is a need to learn from the experience and to learn towards the future. By enrolling to this course, students can learn from the real-life, from different perspectives (community, government and private in relation to nature, people, and culture). Case studies in innovative actions in managing natural resources and environments are also discussed to broaden student’s experiences.

To reach learning outcomes of the students, these are four topics covered in the course:
Learning approach applies for this summer course is based on the principle of learner-centered and enabling the student discovers key insights of the learning from knowledge and experiences developed during the summer course. Each student shall engage actively in the learning activities of the summer course. Various learning methods are used to strengthen the competencies of the students. An online platform will be used in the summer course, synchronous and asynchronous mode of learning mechanism. There are projects that need to be completed individually (1 project) and within the group (1 project). The project should relate to the topics discussed in the summer course. The students are expected to explore, to add value to the initiatives that have been started by the family, group of community or organizations considering social innovation, agri-food chains, natural resource and sustainability.
The students should enroll and join all session of the summer course, from kick off meeting (online) up to the last session of the summer course (final assessment). The students must complete all course assignments that are prepared by themselves
Total learning hours for the summer course are 3500 minutes (2 credit units) comprising of:
1. expert’s lecturing/talk shows/group discussions/presentation: 1400 minutes
2. project-based learning/case study in home country/coaching & mentoring: 2100 minutes
Failure to meet all course requirements will result in the assessment. For those who successfully participate and fulfill the assignment will receive an e-certificate. Academic transcript will be issued after the final assessment. E-certificate and e-transcript will be sent electronically.
