The main objective of the research is to explore the role of women farmers’ empowerment status in their household’s food and nutrition security level.
The research questions aimed to be answered are in three folds; first is how empowered are the women farmers in the stunting prevalent area? Second, what are the role of the women farmers’ empowerment and disempowerment in their household’s food security and nutrition status? Lastly, is how to explain the role of women farmers’ empowerment and disempowerment in relation to their household food and nutrition security practices?
The specific objectives of the research are as follow:
1. To identify the level of women’s empowerment status of the women farmers in stunting prevalent area
2. To analyse the correlation between women empowerment status of the women farmers in stunting prevalent area and their household’sfood security access level
3. To analyse the correlation between women’s empowerment status of the women farmers in stunting prevalent area and their under-five children’s nutritional status
4. To analyse the correlation between women’s empowerment status of the women farmers in stunting prevalent area and the women’s nutritional status
5. To analyse the correlation between empowerment status gap between the womenand men in the farmers’ household and their household’s food and nutrition security level
6. To explore perception regarding gender equity in the agricultural community and its relationship to the food and nutrition practices amongst farmers’ households in stunting prevalent area
